Rebecca was born on 8 May, 1841 in the parish of Withersdale in Suffolk, Englanda1, the daughter of George Brooks (1819–1861)★, a labourer, and Frances Snowling (1819–1885)★, a servant. She was baptised as an infant on 3 Oct, 1841 in Withersdaleb1. She is Ian's great great grandmother.
