The middle children Hilda, George and William were working to support the combined household. Hilda was a grocer's assistant, George was a wagon man for J. Wilkinson, a manufacturer, while William was working as a pawnbroker's porter.

George died at the age of fifty-six on 9 Dec, 1923 at 26 Cato Street, Gateshead^b13. His death was attributed to bronchitis.

He was buried three days later in St. John's Cemetery in Elswick, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, England
