Bridget Dineen (1842–1898)

Bridget was born on 22 May, 1842 in the parish of Caerleon in Monmouthshire, Wales, the daughter of Daniel Dineen (1806–1861)★ and Mary Nighan (1814–1896)★. She was baptised as an infant on 4 Jun, 1842 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Stow Hill, Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales. She is Ian's great great grandmother.

Bridget was recorded in the 1851 census at Shoemaker's Row in Risca, Monmouthshire, Walesa1 with her father Daniel, a labourer, mother Mary and two siblings Johanna and Dennis.

By the time of the 1861 census she was living at Wain y pwyl farm in Llandegveth, Monmouthshire, Walesb1.

She married Patrick Bryan (1839–1867) on 11 Nov, 1864 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Newportc1,d1 . They had one son:–

She married Daniel Palmer (1843–?), a journeyman shoemaker, on 7 Dec, 1867 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Newportc2,d2 and had one daughter:–

She married Joseph Ximenes (1840–1880)★, a coal miner, on 28 Oct, 1872 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Newporte3,c4,d3 and went on to have four children with him:–

  • Francis baptised on 15 Jun, 1873 at the Church of St Anthony of Padua and St Clare in Risca, Monmouthshire, Walesg1. Married Emily Davies on 8 Jul, 1908 at St. Sannan's Church in Bedwelty, Monmouthshire, Walesh1. Died on 2 Dec, 1916 in Chatham in Kent, England at the age of forty-three.
  • Louisa★ born on 2 Aug, 1876 in Newtown in Mynyddyslwyn, Monmouthshire, Walesc5. Married George Chambers★ on 23 Dec, 1895 at The Register Office, Newportc6. Died in childbirth on 3 Nov, 1913 at 8 Joseph Street in Elswick, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, Englandc7 at the age of thirty-seven.
  • Rosearia born on 28 Apr, 1878 in Newtown. Died on 11 Jun, 1964 in Cardiff in Glamorgan, Walesf2 at the age of eighty-six.
  • Helena baptised on 25 Jul, 1880 at the Church of St Anthony of Padua and St Clare in Risca, Monmouthshire, Walesg2. Married Thomas James Peters on 11 Sep, 1901 at the Register Office in Bedwelty, Monmouthshire, Walesc8. Died in the Jul-Sep quarter of 1973 in the registration district of Bedwelty in Monmouthshire, Wales at the age of ninety-three.

In the 1881 census she was living at Blackvein Row in Lower Machen, Machen, Monmouthshire, Walesk1 with her six children Louisa Hemmings, Francis Hemmings (1873–1916), Rosearia Hemmings (1878–1964), Helena Hemmings (1880–1973), John Bryan (1865–?), a haulier and Jane Palmer.

She married John Jones (1851–1941), a coal miner, on 16 Dec, 1889 at the age of forty-seven at The Register Office, Newportc9.

By the time of the 1891 census she was living in Full Moon in Newtown, Mynyddyslwyn, Monmouthshire, Walesm1 with her husband John Jones and two children Rosearia Hemmings and Helena Hemmings.

Bridget died at the age of fifty-six on 1 Oct, 1898 at St. John's Infirmary in Cardiff, Glamorgan, Walesc10. Her death was attributed to "cancerous peritonitis"c10.

She was survived by her husband John Jones, now a collier.
