By the time of the 1881 census she was living at Blackvein Row in Lower Machen, Machen, Monmouthshire, Wales^d1 with her mother Bridget and five siblings Louisa Hemmings (1876–1913)★, Francis Hemmings (1873–1916), Rosearia Hemmings (1878–1964), Helena Hemmings (1880–1973) and John Bryan (1865–?), a haulier.

She married Alfred Harvey (1864–1955), an engine stoker, on 4 Sep, 1888 at The Register Office in Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales^a2.

Comments

On her marriage certificate she stated her father to be George Palmer. However her father Daniel died while she was very young and she never knew him. Having met her descendants and seen her family bible I’m confident of the relationship and believe she was simply unaware of her father’s name.
