Frances Pickering (1763–?)

Frances was probably born in 1763. Her parents are not known. She is Ian's 6x great grandmother.

She married William Blackbrough (?–1796)★, a shipwright, on 20 Sep, 1789 at St. Giles Church in St. Giles in the Fields, Middlesex, Englanda1 . They had three children:–

In 1797 Frances made a petition to Trinity House for assistance following the death of her husband William. Trinity House were responsible for the supervision of lighthouses and buoys around the English coast but also distributed charitable funds to those of the seafaring community in greatest need. William, then a shipwright, had been a mate and carpenter aboard the William & Elizabeth under Captain Hart and had died during a voyage to Nevis in the West Indies. In the petition Frances stated that she was left a widow at the age of 34 with three children aged 9, 6 and 2 and that she had no other means of support. It is not know whether her petition was successful.g1

The time and place of Frances' death is not known.
