All diary entries made in 2005
I spent much of this year working through census records from 1861 to 1901 and ordering GRO certificates for several family lines. A lot of time went into tracing the Palmer and Dineen families through Welsh census records and tracking their Irish origins back to Ballymartle in County Cork. I also worked systematically on the Tew family of Shalstone in Buckinghamshire, trying to untangle the several George Tews across different generations, and made good progress on the Rymell family of Tring through marriage and death certificates. Along the way I looked into the Facer family’s connection to the Wolverton railway works, Henry Alcock’s service in the Sherwood Foresters, and the 1880 Risca Colliery Disaster.
