By the time of the 1851 census he was living at Higher Sea Lane in Charmouth, Dorset, Englandf1 with his wife Frances, a cooper and carpenter's wife.

In the 1861 census he was living at Old Lyme Road in Charmouth, Dorset, Englandg1 with his wife Frances.

Phineas died at the age of seventy-four on 31 Jan, 1866 at Axminster Road in Charmouth, Dorset, Englandb7,d3. His death was attributed to "peritonitis" (inflammation of the abdomen)d3.

He was buried four days later in Charmouthb7 He was survived by his wife Frances.
