Age: 72 Died: 8th Jul 1924 Accident: 7th Jul 1924 11.30 p.m., 5th hour of shift Year Born: abt. 1852 Colliery: Cowpen, Straker Company: Cowpen Coal Co., Ltd. Occupation: Shifter Notes: deceased, with another man, was engaged in dismantling some disused stables. They were taking down a brick wall along one side of the stable. The wall had been partly undermined, stay prop being set against part of the wall as a temporary support. A portion of the wall suddenly collapsed and displaced the stay props. Deceased was in the act of stepping clear when he was struck and knocked down by the falling brickwork.
