In the Name of God Amen I William Scrimshaw of Maltby in the County of Lincoln Yeoman Being sick in body but of sound & disposing Mind & Memory praised be God for the same Do make & ordain this my last Will & Testament in manner following: that is to say first & principally I commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Body to be buried ~ And as to my temporal Estate I Give Devise & Bequeath of the same as follows ~ Imprmis I give & devise to my Daughter Elizabeth Scrimshaws All the my Three Closes of pasture in North Somercotes & in the County afores'd & All other my Lands Tenements & Hereditaments ???? ????????? Freehold Lands Tenements & hereditaments in North Somercotes afores'd to her & her Heirs for ever ~ Item I Give & devise to my Daughter Elizabeth the sum of Three hundred pounds ------ to be p'd when she shall attain the age of One & Twenty Years And it is my Will & Mind that my Executrix & Executor hereinafter named shall be accountable to my s'd Daughter for Interest for the s'd Sum of Three Hundred pounds – after the rate of Five pounds pr cent pr Annum from the time of my decease & that same Interest together w'th the rents & profits of my above mentioned Lands shall be applied to her the Maintenance & Education of my s'd Daughter till the age aforesaid & if there shall any thing remain of the s'd rents & Interest over & besides this Experence of her Education & Maintenance then it is my will & mind that such surplus shall be paid to my s'd Daughter together w'th the s'd principal Sum of Three Hundred pounds - - when she shall attain her age afores'd And if she my s'd Daughter shall happen to depart this Life before she shall attain the age afores'd then it is my Will & mind that Fifty Pounds part of my s'd daughters fortune shall go to, & I do give & devise to my Kinsman John Bycroft to my Nephews William Scrimshaw John Scrims & to Scrimshaw my Niece Susan Scrimshaw & to every of them the sum of Ten pounds to be paid w'in Six - - months after my s'd Daughters decease And it is my Will & mind that the rest of my Daughter's Fortune shall remain & go to my Executrix & Executor hereinafter named Provided always nevertheless & it is my will & mind That if my s'd Daughter shall marry before she attain the age of One & Twenty years & w'out the consent of her major my Dear Wife Eliz: Scrimshaw then her Brothers Thomas Hennage & Robert Hennage one the Mother part of them the living that she saw the s'd Daughter shall have but the Sum of Three Two Hundred pounds - - - for her Fortune and the other Sum of One Hundred pounds part of her past mentioned Fortune shall remain & go to my Executrix & Executor hereinafter named share & share alike ~ Item I give to my s'Kinsman John Bycroft to my Nephews William Scrimshaw John Scrimshaw & Daniel Scrimshaw & to my Neece Susanna Scrimshaw the Sum of Two Shillings & Sixpence apiece to my Kinswoman Elizabeth West Five Shillings & to Anne West her Daughter half a Guinea & to John West her son half a Crown To John Scrimshaw & Anne Scrimshaw Son & Daughter of my Cozen John Scrimshaw Late of Strubby deed half A Crown apiece All to be paid w'in Six - - Months after my decease ~ Item I do constitute & appoint my s'd Dear Wife Elizabeth & my son in Law Thomas Hennage joint Executrix & Executor of this my Last Will & Testament & Do give them all the rest of my Goods & Chattells not hereinbefore disposed of hereby revoking all former Wills & Bequests by Me made In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand & Seal this third day of December in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred & Twenty Nine Ao Regni Georgii Secundi Regis Tertio ~ Sealed published declared & delivered The mark of William W Scrimshaw by the afore named William Scrimshaw as his last Will & Testament in the presence of us who have subscribed our names as Witnesses in the presence of the Testatour ~ Charles Kelk Francis Kelk Tho.
