William died at the age of fifty-six on 12 Apr, 1879 at Catania Villas in Blatchington Road, Hove, Sussex, Englandh1,b6. His death was attributed to "morbus cordis" (heart disease).
He was buried four days later at All Saints Church in Hove, Sussex, Englandk1
