We’re planning a trip to South Wales to do some research on Joseph Ximenes and Bridget Dineen. Our main goal is to find clues as to the origin of Joseph. Anything else we find out about the family is going to be useful as well.

Places to Visit

Risca Old Cemetery is where Frank Hemmings is buried with his wife Emily. Plot C. 218. (map). Joseph is also buried there I think but no marker.

A memorial plaque to miners who died was installed in front of the bandstand in Waunfawr Park, Crosskeys. (map)

Remains of Full Moon Cottages (51.614945, -3.140519) are now part of the Sirhowy Valley Country Park (parking)/ The site of the cottages is about 300 feet/90 metres west along the path, about 30 metres before the toilets. The cottages would have lain to the south of the path which was the rail track, the inn to the north. The North Risca Colliery was 300 metres to the north east.
