I received a message on Ancestry from BB who is married to JGB, nephew of JB:

Hi Ian I have been in touch with LO who gave me some information regarding the connection to south America. This has me intrigued as my father in law John Joseph always said he had mexican blood but was unable to give further details. My sister in law said she was told there was Shosoni heritage. If you could throw any light on this I would be very grateful. Many Thanks BB

LO is Rebecca Chambers’ great-great granddaughter.

I replied with the information I had regarding Joseph Ximenes and asked her for more information about the Shosoni rumour. I assume she means Shoshone.

She followed up a few days later:

Hi Ian Thanks for getting in touch. I find it fascinating and amazing regarding the Mexico/ Shoshoni connection as well. I have spoken to my sister in law and she said it was just something her father said one day, that way back a relative came from the shoshoni tribe. She was a teenager and didnt ask any questions as she said she was not interested at the time and now regrets this. My father in law told me one day when I commented on how easily he gets a golden tan that he had Mexican blood. He always had a swarthy conplextion. Wish I could tell you more. If anything does turn up I will let you know. Regards BB
