I also searched for and ordered the following

  • Frank Hemmings, 1916
  • Elizabeth Hinksman (Peak), 1937
  • James Hall, 1941 (not sure this is correct since middle name was Harold)
  • Richard Hinksman, 1942
  • Benjamin Snowling, 1892
  • John Snowling, 1892
  • Martha Dineen (Allen), 1963

I also ordered some copies of Bernard Girard Alcock’s wartime identity paper from Jersey in 1942. They show that he was sent to a camp in Germany and one appears to contain a photograph of him. They arrived within an hour.

The first document is a “blue” identity registration dated 1940 that gives his name as Bernard Girard Alcock and address Stella Maris, Langley Park, St. Saviours. Date of birth 25 Jan 1925, Bedford, England. His occupation is butcher and he was single. His hair was auburn, eyes grey. He had never served in a military service.1

The second document is an identity card, number 23142 with the same information as above plus a an attached photograph. In faint pencil, probably at a later date, is written “Transported to Germany on 29.9.42”2
