Another two certificates arrived by post today. The first was the marriage of Jane Tew and Benjamin Fletcher:

Marriage at the church, Shalstone on 9 August 1864 of Benjamin Fletcher, age 22, bachelor, a labourer of Shalstone and Jane Tew, age 22, spinster also of Shalstone. Benjamin’s father was William Fletcher, a labourer. Jane’s father was Thomas Tew, also a labourer. Benjamin could not sign his name but Jane could. The witnesses were Sarah Fletcher and Caleb Tew who could both sign their names.

The second was for George Tew, but this is not a direct relative. He is one of the Gawcott Tews that we have not linked to Shalstone yet.

Marriage at Buckingham on 10 February 1850 of George Tew, age 53, widower, a labourer of Gawcott and Hannah Meads, 45, widow of Gawcott. George’s father was John Tew, a labourer. Hannah’s father was Thomas Adams, a labourer. George could not sign his name but Hannah could. The witnesses were George Tew and Susannah Tew, both of whom could sign their names.
